Specialized Services for Children with Sensory Motor Challenges
The Hearing & Speech Institute offers occupational therapy services on-site. The services can be utilized on their own, or as part of a comprehensive program including other services.
The services provided by the program focus on helping children to achieve their full potential in the performance of adaptive behavior, play, sensory processing and integration, motor development and self-help skills. Occupational Therapists help children in the following areas:
- Gross and fine motor development
- Handwriting
- Self Care
- Behavioral Organization
- Sensory Processing
- Attention to Task
- Play Skills
- Visual Motor and Perceptual Skills
- Sensory Feeding
- Therapeutic Listening
Our Occupational Therapists thoroughly assess each child and create treatment plans in conjunction with the family and their multidisciplinary team as appropriate. Treatment plans are tailored to meet the needs of both the child and the family based on prinicals of sensory processing and neurodevelopment.
